A Worthy Mission
This evening our church has the privilege to send five team members to the country of Nepal. This is a place that corporately has been near and dear to our hearts. Our church has had the distinct blessing of being partnered and on mission with two wonderful people that will remain nameless (due to security concerns). This partnership has lasted over 10 years, and in that decade we have seen the Kingdom of God flourish.
- We've seen firsthand- new churches planted in areas where there were no churches.
- We've seen firsthand- people hear the name of Jesus for the first time.
- We've seen firsthand- people find hope, people find joy, and people find Life!
We have flown over vast oceans, trekked over high mountains, crossed remote rivers, and walked into villages where no American has ever set foot. We have done all of this with one sole purpose- to make the Glory of Jesus Christ known to the people of Nepal. The disciple John’s vision in Revelation 7 gives us an incredible scene of full and final glory that is attributed to Christ.
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” (vs.9-10)
This moment in future history when all nations, all tribes, all peoples will be around the throne of God with one name of their lips- JESUS. It is for this reason our mission is so important and why prayer is so necessary. We face challenges that can only be overcome through the power of God. So please pray for:
Boldness- we want to be bold in sharing our story and God’s story.
Opportunities- it’s arrogant to think that we are in control of opportunities and agendas for ministry. It is God’s Spirit that goes before us. We desperately need Him.
Wisdom- They have recently criminalized evangelism in Nepal. It is now illegal to try and share with someone in leading them to an abandonment of their old religion. We need discernment in recognizing the opportunities that the Holy Spirit graces us with.
Strength- This mission will start with a 16-hour plane ride and not stop until we are back home. We need strength and health to complete our mission, not as much for our sakes, but for the sake of the Gospel.
Open Hearts- We do not change anyone. Our words do not change anyone. It is God who changes hearts. It is God who brings the dead to life. God who convicts and God who saves. We are eagerly expecting God to show up and we are ready to proclaim His glory and His fame in Nepal.
So please pray as we are on mission. This is how you follow us to Nepal- through prayer. You are there with us!
