What I Wish My Husband Knew

February 18, 2018 Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: The Family Wish List

Introduction: When it comes to understanding and meeting the needs of your wife, you as a husband, cannot approach it from your perspective. Someone has said that women are complex and men are simple. That is why 1 Peter 3:7 reads, “Husbands …dwell with (your wives) with understanding….”

I Wish My Husband Knew That I Need Him To…

 Be a Spiritual Leader (Psalm 1) (1 Timothy 3:12)

Be a Good Father (Ephesians 6:4) (Colossians 3:21)

Provide Security for Me & Our Family (1 Timothy 5:8)

  • Financial (long hours at work does not = more love)
  • Emotional (a greater security)

 Cherish Me

  • Love is Expressive (Ephesians 5:25-27)
  • Love is Essential (Ephesians 5:28-29)
  • Love is Enduring (Ephesians 5:30-33)

Pursue Me (Song of Solomon 8:14a)

  • When we Fight (Colossians 3:19)
  • When we Love (Song of Solomon 4:1-4a)

 Understand Me (1 Peter 3:7)

  • Be a Good Listener—not a Fixer
  • Focus on my Feelings—not the Problem

 Encourage Me

  • Reassurance (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a)
  • Inspiration (Proverbs 31:28)

Application:  The key to having your own needs met is to attempt to meet the needs of your spouse.
