Scripture: Matthew 6:33–6:33

Introduction: Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Take Aways from Matthew 6:33 

→ Set Proper Priorities  “Seek first the kingdom of God”

  • Seek = Actively pursue or go after (James 4:8, Jeremiah 29:13)
  • Seek the Kingdom

            ° Seek the Glory of the King

            ° Seek the Guidance of the King

            ° Seek the Government of the King

→ Seek Personal Purity  “His Righteousness”

  • The Character of God:

          ° God is totally separate and absolutely pure (1 John 1:5)

          ° God is eternal (Psalm 90:2)

          ° God is omniscient (Psalm 147:5)

          ° God is omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-12)

          ° God is omnipotent (Revelation 19:6)

          ° God is immutable (James 1:17)

          ° God is holy (1 Peter 1:16)

  • The Character of God lived out in the Believer as seen in Galatians 5:22-23

            ° Love (John 13:34-35, 1 John 4:8)

            ° Joy (John 15:11)

            ° Peace (Philippians 4:7)

            ° Longsuffering (Colossians 3:13)

            ° Kindness (Mark 10:14)

            ° Goodness (Colossians 3:12)

            ° Faithfulness (Romans 10:17)

            ° Gentleness (Matthew 11:29)

            ° Self Control (1 Corinthians 15:57-58)

→ See Promised Prosperity   “All these things shall be added to you”

Application: Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
