The Benefits of Salvation
July 8, 2018 Pastor: Bryan Glisson Series: Royal Invitation: Part 2- Grace
Scripture: Romans 8:31–39
Introduction: Everyone is looking for security and benefits. For the Christian, a secure future rest in Jesus Christ through the grace He extends to us. Our response to that grace must come through faith.
Benefits of God’s Grace I Can Always Count On:
- God’s Power (Romans 8:31)
(1 John 4:4)
- God’s Provision (Romans 8:32)
(Psalm 37:4)
(Psalm 84:11)
(Philippians 4:19)
- God’s Protection (Romans 8:33)
(Revelation 12:10)
- God’s Pardon (Romans 8:34)
- God’s Presence (Romans 8:35-39)
Because of God’s Grace I Never Have To Worry About: (Romans 8—Phillips Translation)
- Opposition from God
31 "In the face of all of this, what is there left to say? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not hesitate to spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all, can we not trust such a God to give us with Him everything else that we would need?”
- Accusations from God
33 “Who would dare to accuse us whom God has chosen? The judge Himself has declared us free from sin.”
- Condemnation from God
1 “No condemnation now hangs over the head of those who are ‘in’ Jesus Christ.”
34 “Who is in a position to condemn us? Only Christ. And Christ died for us. Christ rose for us. Christ reigns in power for us. Christ prays for us.”
- Separation from God
35 “Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble, pain or persecution? Can lack of clothes and food, danger to life and limb, the threat of force or arms? 36 Indeed, some of us know the truth of that ancient text, `For thy sake we are killed all the daylong. We were counted as sheep for the slaughter.' 37 No, in all of these things we win an overwhelming victory through Him who has proved His love for us. 38 I have become absolutely convinced that neither death nor life, neither messengers of heaven or monarchs of earth, neither what happens today or what may happen tomorrow, 39 neither a power from on high nor a power from below, nor anything else in God's whole world, has any power to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus."
Conclusion: God’s grace can be summed up by saying, “God is for me and with me.”
My Faith + God’s Grace = Salvation’s Security & Benefits
Warning: The person who professes to know Christ as their savior and trusts they have salvation yet lives comfortably in their sin and/or celebrates their sin has not lost their salvation they have never had salvation. Sinning is living in contradiction to God’s truth.
(Matthew 7:21)
(John 14:15-17)
