JOY RIDE
Book of Philippians 

Series Introduction: We all have a fundamental emotional need for joy in our lives, yet many of us do not experience it. Life without joy has proven to be overwhelming, and even oppressive. That being understood, the presence of joy in our lives is not determined by our circumstances but in the person of Jesus Christ. Joy is the unshakable assurance that God is in control of all the details of our lives, the confidence that ultimately, we can trust God in everything that comes into our lives, and the determined purpose to praise Him in all things.

Six Ways to Activate Joy:

Invest in the Lives of Others (Philippians 1:3-11)

Capitulate to the Purposes of God (Philippians 1:19-26)

Rise Above the Past
Debilitating Regrets (Philippians 3:6, Philippians 3:13a) (Acts 3:19)
Satisfying Rewards (Philippians 3:7-9; Philippians 3:13a) (Isaiah 43:18-19a)

Trust God with the Future 
Living Daily (Philippians 3:13b-14)
Focusing on Eternity (Philippians 3:20-21)

Live Victoriously in the Present
Don’t let people steal your joy (Philippians 4:2-5)
Don’t let worry steal your joy (Philippians 4:6-7)
Don’t let negativity steal your joy (Philippians 4:8-9)

Choose to be Content (Philippians 4:11-13)

Application: (Philippians 4:4) Joy is a decision. You are as joyful as you choose to be. Based on these passages if you are discouraged it is because you are choosing to be discouraged.
